Product Description:

We love our entertainment — but do we know when it all came about? Was Flight of the Valkyries before the William Tell Overture? Sure, the Eagles came before Daft Punk, but was Enter the Dragon between the two? Learn about the roots of modern rock, the early days of motion pictures and the masterpieces of the classical composers in this fun and educational game about the history of entertainment.

At the beginning of the game, players all get the same number of cards representing an aspect of musical and film history. On the back of each card is a date. To begin, one card is randomly drawn from those not given to players. This card is placed in the middle of the table, date-side up and is the starting point of a chronological line that will slowly be constructed by the players. The first player then chooses one of his or her cards. If the player thinks that the film or composition on his or her card came before that of the initial card, the player places the card to the left of the initial card. If he or she feels that the cultural element on his or her card was created after, it is placed to the right of the initial card. The player’s card is then turned date-side up. If the player was right, the card remains on the table. Otherwise, the card is discarded and a new one must be drawn to replace it. Play proceeds clockwise. The more cards that are correctly played, the harder it is to correctly place new ones. The first player to get rid of all of his or her cards wins.

This unopened, never-used Timeline: Music and Cinema card game published in 2013 by Asmodee Group promises to be an informative and enjoyable family experience for children and their parents. This card game would make for an ideal gift for any child fascinated by cultural history as well as a thoughtful gift for an elementary, middle- or high-school history teacher who might use the game as an educational tool in his or her classroom.

Note: As part of the Spring Awakens Sale, purchase of Timeline: Music and Cinema comes with a free $10 Dogbotz Boneyard gift certificate, which can be redeemed during a future purchase at our online store. The expiration date of the gift certificate is one year after purchase of this item.
