About the Artist:

Nearly 30 years ago, North American Bear Company began as a creative business enterprise of a new mother, Barbara Isenberg, starting a family in New York City in the mid-1970s. Her desire to find a teddy bear with the nostalgic charm of an antique toy and a contemporary sense of whimsy for her own small son prompted the start of a toy company creating unique, high-quality plush bears that would appeal to both children and adults alike. In 1978, after perfecting a variety of sample bears, assembling a sales force and locating a small New York factory to produce bears, Barbara teamed up with her brother, Paul Levy, a Chicago-based lawyer and real estate developer, to form North American Bear Company, Inc. Barbara continues as the company’s Creative Director, running the New York Studio in the heart of Manhattan’s toy district where she and the closely-knit design and production team develop each season’s rich and varied collections. Paul serves as CEO in the company’s corporate headquarters in Chicago, managing the administrative, financial and warehousing aspects of the business.

Product Description:

From the “Very Important Bear” (VIB) collection of the North American Bear Company comes the 1987 bearish image of Rhett Beartler, the stuffed animal understudy from Gone with the Wind. Like his human counterpart, Rhett Beartler sports a white shirt, striped tie and brown leather vest that are typical of the Civil War era in the Deep South. Gray slacks and a gold watch chain (no watch, though) complete his outfit.

This special teddy bear is in great vintage condition, free of tears, snags, smells, or other defects. He does come with his original sales tag that indicates an original price of $69.95.

Invite this VIB over for your next social gathering, be it for adults or kids. Rhett Beartler will be the hit of the party. Just know, however, he doesn’t give a damn!

Special Note: This product is not for children under 3 years of age, as it poses a potential choking hazard.
