Product Description:

This really rare set of vintage French fortunetelling cards is a 1962 reprint of the earliest deck of Mademoiselle LeNormand oracle/divination cards, which first appeared in 1845, two years after her death. This reproduction deck was manufactured by B. P. Grimaud of France. This deck of Grand Jeu de Mlle LeNormand is described as a “Wicked pack of cards” by Dummett, Decker & Depaulis, 1996, pages 139 to 140.

Out of all the oracles that bear Mlle LeNormand’s name, the Grand Jeu deck is the closest in representing the one that she most likely would have created in the hopes of eventually publishing it herself. Its complexity has an extravagance that only Mlle LeNormand might have attempted. Because of the deck’s complexity, it is not frequently used by Tarot card readers, as it is obviously meant to be used by someone who has an extensive background in a variety of occult sciences, as well as an excellent grasp of Greek Mythology, and caters to a very distinct clientele. It isn’t something that most beginners seek.

However, for those of you who want to follow in Mlle Lenormand’s footsteps, this oracle is probably the closest thing you will get that will encapsulate all of her occult knowledge. It is well known that Mlle LeNormand loved Greek mythology and that she studied extensively in astrology as well as alchemy. At one point, it is rumored that she even sold flowers or gave them away to some of her clients to counter or encourage certain spiritual influences.

The 54 cards of the Grand Jeu de Mlle LeNormand deck are gorgeous, brightly colored and in mint condition, as if never used. The cards are free of creases, tears and frayed edges. The box is in a very good condition, suffering primarily from corner and edge wear. The instruction booklet is also in a very good vintage condition, though a small bend on the corner of the first page and a small mark on top of the cover are apparent. The back cover page, the spine and the pages of the booklet are in great condition. Please review accompanying photographs for any condition issues.

For those who enjoy studying the esoteric spiritual dimensions of sacred tools of divination, Grand Jeu de Mlle LeNormand, despite all of its complexities, is the perfect way to expand your knowledge as well as your intuition. For collectors of esoterica, this deck will add great value to such a collection.
