About the Artist:

Once considered “junk jewelry,” vintage Lisner pieces have only recently become collectible. In the 1990s, collectors realized that the clever shapes and bright colors of the company’s cheaply made plastic leaves and baubles possessed a unique (and today, lucrative) beauty.

For nearly 30 years after its 1904 founding, Lisner imported and sold Elsa Schiaparelli’s Parisian jewelry in the United States. In the 1930s, the company achieved a higher profile by finally selling its own designs that employed DuPont’s new colored acrylic plastic called Lucite, clear and colored rhinestones (particularly aurora borealis), lava stones, and chromed, silver-plated, and black japanned metal.

Currently, one of the most coveted vintage Lisner lines is the molded plastic oak-leaf jewelry, which was only produced for five years in the 1960s. Individual pieces such as brooches or necklaces without matching bracelets or earrings are more affordable.

Product Description:

From renowned jewelry designer Lisner comes this early 1960s demi parure of necklace and earrings composed of turquoise-colored and navy blue rhinestones set in shiny silver-tone metal. Below each rhinestone in the necklace are two trailing ribbons also made of silver-tone metal. Chain-link extenders terminate in a hook at one end and a spiraling circle at the other. The screw-back earrings have a central cluster of light and dark blue rhinestones with the ribbons of metal radiating from the core.

This demi parure is in such excellent vintage condition that it appears as if it has never been used. The name “LISNER” appears on the hook of the necklace and the top of both screw-backs of the earrings.

The set comes in its original aqua store box, which does have some wear. The jewelry is secured in cardboard base covered with an ivory-colored, synthetic silk fabric typical of the era. Having the original box is certainly a rare find for collectors!

All in all, this demi parure is a magnificent example of Lisner costume jewelry. Add this necklace and earring set to your jewelry collection to enhance its value. And then, wear these eye-catching pieces to beautify yourself in whatever formal or informal outfit you select to complement the jewelry.
