Designed by Keith Baker and originally released by Trident, Inc. (d/b/a Atlas Games) in 2004, Gloom: The Game of Inauspicious Incidents & Grave Consequences focuses on the fate of an eccentric family of misfits. Each player’s goal is sad, but simple: make the characters suffer the greatest tragedies possible before helping them pass on to the well-deserved respite of death. Remember: the most miserable soul wins.
If the starter deck does not provide you and your family and friends with enough ghastliness, then feel free to incorporate into the game one of the four expansion sets (or any combination two or more decks). The four expansion sets are:
- Unforgettable Expeditions: tales of intrepid family explorers who have faced misfortune across the globe;
- Unhappy Homes: bizarre residences and the hideous mysteries that pervade them;
- Unquiet Dead: supernatural and often undead creatures from wereducks to mummies who haunt and bring devastating sorrow to all whom they meet; and,
- Unwelcome Guests: you know who they are as they babble incessantly about one trauma after the other, and they just never know when to leave or say good-bye.
Both the Gloom starter deck and its four expansion sets are brand new and factory sealed. Also, note that as you add more and more expansion sets into the play of the game, you may add additional players to the game itself.
For hours of wacky and weird fun with family and friends, consider buying the Gloom card game!
