Copyrighted by American Tradition Company and manufactured by Transogram Toys and Games in 1964, this rare, vintage card game is based on the popular 1960s television show The Daniel Boone Show, which featured actor Fess Parker. In the television series, which ran from 1964 to 1970, frontier hero and iconic historical figure Daniel Boone conducts surveys and expeditions around Boonesborough, running into both friendly and hostile Indians, just before and during the Revolutionary War.
The Wilderness Trail Card Game was created, designed and play-tested by the Toy Research Institute. The game comes with 36 Trail Cards, 10 Blaze Cards, 8 Hazard Cards, and 18 Release Cards. Also included with the cards are a card tray, a score pad and set of game instructions. The box cover shows some shelf wear, though the color of the images are bright. The game cards are in excellent condition, free of creases, frayed edges and tears. The other components are also in excellent conditioning, leading one to believe that perhaps this game was rarely played.
For someone who collects 1960s television show paraphernalia or who is a fan of the 1960s Daniel Boone Show, this card game is a wonderful find. However, the card game is also great for an evening of family entertainment.
