About the Artist:
The porcelain manufacturer Karl-Heinz Klette was founded in 1950 in Küps, Bavaria, Germany. Karl Klette’s factory was very small, and he specialized in decorated wares and figurines in the style of Dresden — the reason for the “Crown over D” in the mark. The blue variant of this mark dates this piece from about 1990.
This stunning white porcelain figurine of a fisherman seated on the ground with a basket of fish on his lap is extremely well-executed. The posture of the fisherman, his clothing, the fish in his basket, and the elements of the ground upon which he sits create a lifelike image. What marvelous craftsmanship!
This exquisite figurine is in excellent condition. The figurine is free of cracks, chips, crazing or any other marks. All of the smaller, more delicate pieces of the figurine, such as the fisherman’s fingers, his pipe, his beard, and the small pot beneath the plate of fish, remain intact. The traditional blue “Crown over D” mark of Dresden-style pottery appears on the bottom of the figurine.
This German fisherman figurine makes for an excellent gift for any special occasion. In addition, this beautifully detailed piece would add great value to your own porcelain collection. This piece is sure to become a treasured heirloom in your family.
