Produced in the late 1950s under the renowned Pepys card game line of Castell Brothers, Ltd., of Great Britain, Round the World card game is a companion game to Speed, of which both games are about, well, speed. The object of the game is for opponents to eliminate all the cards in their hands as speedily as they can.
The card game itself is in good vintage condition. The cards are void of tears, frayed edges and discoloration; in fact, the illustrations remain vivid as does the unique graphic design on the back of each card. Only a couple of cards have minor creases. The cards total 44 in all and depict various images of Europe, Asia, Australia, Africa, and America.
With just a minor bend in the upper right-hand corner, the rules booklet also remains in great condition, with minimal yellowing from age. The booklet’s central staple has not rusted and is intact.
However, the game box does have some condition issues; for example, frayed edges due to age. The side flaps to the box top have been torn off, and side and bottom panels of the box are creased or bent. Please see accompanying photos for condition issues.
The Round the World card game provides great family entertainment. For those who of collectors of European games and toys, this vintage card game would make for a delightful addition.
