This colorful beaded pendant was handmade by a Blackfoot artisan in the late 1970s. The butterfly image is beautifully composed of orange, red, white and varying shades of blue seed beads. The chain incorporates the same colors of beads to form a peyote-stitched cord. The chain uses a barrel-clasp closure.
This stunning pendant was never worn, as it was unsold stock from the Blackfoot bead-worker’s estate sale in the mid-1980s. It is, therefore, in excellent vintage condition.
This lovely piece of traditional jewelry would make for a wonderful addition to any collection of Native American artifacts as well as a great piece to wear during a scared ceremony.
