For your consideration is The Game of American History card game originally copyrighted by Harry J. Phillips and published by Parker Brothers in 1890. This great antique game features 60 cards with 21 different, beautiful Art Deco designs and colors on their backs. The object of the game is for players to answer correctly as many questions about American history as they can. The player who has collected the most playing cards wins the game.
The box cover features illustrations of the United States of America's history (up until 1890), such as the Revolutionary and Civil Wars, Native Americans, and the landing of Christopher Columbus. For being more than 110 years old, the box of The Game of American History is in great vintage condition. Both Box top and bottom do have frayed corners and some edge wear. Also, the paper on the bottom of the box has bubbled and warped a bit. Game rules are included, and they are in good shape with a couple of small tears at the folds and a few spots. The game cards are also in great condition, free of creases, tears and frayed edges. Some cards are slightly darker on their fronts than other cards, and the type of some cards has lightened or partially rubbed off. Please review accompanying photographs for condition issues.
The Game of American History card game promises hours of great family entertainment. It would also serve as a great gift for any student or teacher of history. For collectors, The Game of American History is a wonderful example of early Parker Brother games. Therefore, the game would make for a great addition to one’s collection.
