The sunset moth (Urania riphaeus) is one of the most colorful Lepidoptera in the world and a favorite to collectors due to its many different colors and tri-spiked tails. Its colors can vary a little from gold to green. The sunset moth also has a beautiful underside. The origin of this moth is Madagascar.
A Riker mount consists of a cotton-filled hard cardboard frame with a glass top. The butterfly is not glued but is gently pressed against the glass by the cotton. Riker mounts are not sealed and can be easily opened to extract or reposition the butterfly simply by removing two to four pins that are on the sides of the frame. Although the Riker mounts is not sealed, the butterfly will still last for many, many years as long as you keep it out of direct sunlight. All Riker mounts have a sawtooth hanger on the back for easy hanging.
