Manufactured by Milton Bradley in 1977, this adventuresome board game features the character Tarzan, originally created by American author Edgar Rice Burroughs. Tarzan was the archetypal feral child raised in the African jungles by the Mangani great apes. He later experienced civilization only to largely reject it and return to the wild as a heroic adventurer. Tarzan first appeared in Burroughs’s novel Tarzan of the Apes (magazine publication 1912, book publication 1914), and subsequently in 25 sequels, three authorized books by other authors, and innumerable works in other media, both authorized and unauthorized.
The game is in excellent vintage condition, as it has never been played and its game pieces are still sealed. The box cover and board have beautifully illustrated graphics and are free of any splits. The box has some very minor storage scuffs.
The Tarzan to the Rescue board game offers hours of great family entertainment and would make for a wonderful gift for children. For those who collect cartoon paraphernalia, Tarzan memorabilia, products based on the books of Edgar Rice Burroughs or vintage games and toys, this is a rare find to add to such collections.
