Hanafuda is the ancient and traditional flower card game played by Japanese families. This contemporary version of the game was produced for Daiso Industries Co., Ltd., of Hiroshima, Japan and manufactured in South Korea. The game, which has been opened but never played, includes 48 beautifully illustrated cards, six blank cards, and the instructions for the games “88” (written in Japanese on the backside of the box) and “Koi-Koi” (also called “Hanafuda”) written in both Japanese and English (in two separate documents) with illustrations of the cards. All the cards of Hanafuda: Japanese Flower Card Game are composed of sturdy PVC plastic.
For Japanese-American citizens, for those learning Japanese or for those who enjoy card games with a unique cultural dimension, Hanafuda: Japanese Flower Card Game would make for a great form of family entertainment or a wonderful addition to an international game and toy collection.
