This antique primitive stoneware jar has a semi-gloss salt glaze finish. The color of the piece varies from gray to ochre on the one side where the piece was close to the oven wall during the firing process. The knife cut lip on this jar is substantial, measuring 0.75".
This jar would be a wonderful addition to an "old world" or country kitchen. Atop a shelf with other stoneware vessels, the jar has a nice color and presents great contrast to the other pottery.
