Produced in the late 1970s by Carta Mundi of Belgium, Das Großbritannien Quartett focuses on famous people, food, castles and other locations of Great Britain. The game cards are written in both English and German. A game for three or more players, Das Großbritannien Quartett provides 36 game cards, with four cards lettered A through D of the same colored “family” or suit. Each player receives four cards at the beginning and has to make a quartet of the same suit of cards. Cards are discarded and drawn as players strive to make a complete suit. Cards may be drawn from the top of the draw pile or discard pile. As a suit is completed by a player, he or she may lay it down in front of him or her on the table (or other playing surface). The first player to do so wins the game.
The cards of Das Großbritannien Quartett are beautifully illustrated, and they are in great vintage condition, free of tears, creases, frayed edges and discoloration. The game box is in good condition, though it does have some surface, corner and edge wear that comes with age. See accompanying photographs for condition issues.
Das Großbritannien Quartett card game makes for a great teaching tool about the culture of Great Britain and for those students seeking to learn German. The game also provides many hours of great family entertainment. The card game is ideal both for children and their families as well as German language-arts teachers. If you collect vintage games and toys produced internationally, this card game is right for you!
