Published in 1954 by the Exclusive Playing Card Company of Chicago, Illinois, Spellbound is a scramble word card game that is both fascinating and instructive. The play consists of forming words, using the cards with various score values. Each player competes for high score by using his cards in combinations that take best advantage of letter values. The combined total score for a game may range from 100 to 300 points, depending on the skill of the players.
This card game is in good vintage conditions. The 105 letter cards are barely used and, therefore, free to discoloration, splits, tears, or frayed edges. The instruction booklet is in great condition as well.
The box, however, shows some wear. The green paper that bears the logo of the game on the top has slightly bubbled up from the cardboard due to age. All four corners of the box top are split. Other than that, the box just has some minor edge wear. Please review the accompanying photographs to review the overall condition of the game.
Spellbound is a wonderful word game that provides hours of family entertainment. It would make an ideal gift for any student or teacher of language arts. For those who collect vintage games and toys, this word scramble card game is a rare find!
