About the Artist:
The Coro costume jewelry company started doing business in 1901, producing jewelry under several brand names, including Corocraft. Some of their more notable products include the Coro Duettes, Coro Tremblers, Coro Door Knockers and Coro Crown Pins. The Coro company went out of business in 1979.
From the late 1940s comes this gorgeous springtime brooch from the Coro company. In the center of the brooch lies a large faux opal. It is then surrounded by a ring of pink rhinestones, small metal flowers and aqua blue rhinestones. This brooch is a simple yet striking beauty in and of itself.
This piece is in excellent vintage condition with all rhinestones present and shimmering in their respective colors. The faux opal has a wonderful iridescent quality. The silver-tone metal is shiny as well and bears the hallmark “Coro” written in script. The clasp is a bit loose but in working condition.
This marvelous brooch would make for a great addition to any costume jewelry box or collection. As it is ageless, the brooch can be worn by women of any age, from young maiden to grand dame. Don’t pass this one up!
