About the Artist:
Argentine artist Francisco Masseria had an exciting talent for portraits. His faces seem to be looking directly at and interacting with the viewer. Many of his finest oil portraits have been converted into an exquisite line of porcelain plates. Each of his images are not that of some sullen-faced waif, but that of a beautiful girl whose heart and personality shines through her eyes. His abstract backgrounds complement the incredible realism of the faces of his subjects.
Produced in 1986 by Royal Doulton, an English company producing tableware and collectibles since 1815, the plate of Francesca, the portrait originally painted by Argentine artist Francisco Masseria, is part of “The Encore Series” of fine porcelain plates. This specific plate is number 1702 of 10,000 original copies.
This beautifully designed plate is in excellent vintage condition, free of cracks, chips or any markings. The plate is trimmed with gold paint. The collectible and trademark information about this plate appears on its reverse side.
For those who are vintage porcelain plate collectors, particularly of those pieces designed and produced by Royal Doulton, the Francesca plate of “The Encore Series” make for a wonderful addition to such a collection.
