This rare copy of The Adventures of Popeye Game was manufactured in 1957 by Transogram (Canada) Limited of Toronto, Canada. Almost six decades old, this family board game features the renowned and beloved characters of the Popeye cartoon strip of the 1920s and the television show of the 1950s. Characters include Popeye the Sailor Man, Olive Oyl, Bluto, Professor Whatasnozzle, Captain Snook, and more.
When originally produced, The Adventures of Popeye Game was recommended by child psychologists for group activity among children to develop their sense of sharing and fair play as well as stimulation of imagination, memory, and concentration. Written in both French and English, this game was popular for after-school get-togethers, parties and rainy-day recreation.
The game is in great vintage condition for its age, with beautifully illustrated box top and game board populated with the favorite Popeye characters. Though one corner of the box top is split, the box itself has minimal wear. All the game components are present and in equally good condition. As always, please review accompanying photographs for condition issues.
The Adventures Popeye Board Game offers great entertainment for younger children, ages five to ten. For collectors of vintage board games or Popeye the Sailor Man memorabilia, this rare board game would make for a wonderful gift or acquisition.
