This beautifully designed and constructed Plains Indian beaded pistol holster was manufactured in the late 1930s. Handmade from buffalo hide, the fringed holster can easily support a pistol (perhaps a Colt revolver) with a six- to eight-inch barrel. A belt can easily slide through the top leather hoop of the holster.
Beaded on the front of the holster is a Plains Indian design created through the use of black, yellow, red and blue beads. The beadwork has been sewn into the hide.
The holster is in great vintage condition. It retains its original colors of both the hide and the beads. The fringe descending the right side of the holster remains relatively soft and pliable.
For anyone who collects Native American artifacts, this leather and beaded holster would make an excellent addition to such a collection as well as an unexpected gift.
