This gorgeous and quite unusual Cheyenne beaded woman’s barrette was acquired from an Idaho estate sale in 1982. Shaped as a butterfly but designed with blue, red and white seed beads to look like a United States Flag, this hand-made barrette, fashioned in the late 1970s, shows great craftsmanship. The beaded butterfly has been hand-sewn onto a piece of deer hide, and a metal barrette clip has been inserted between the beadwork and the leather. This piece shimmers and twinkles in sunlight!
This one-of-a-kind Cheyenne jewelry is in excellent vintage condition, with all its beads present. The leather backing has aged well, and the metal clip works wonderfully.
This unique barrette would make for a wonderful gift, for any occasion, for that special lady or young woman in your life. It would be a delight to wear at any Native American powwow or ceremony. For those who collect Native American jewelry or artifacts, this butterfly-shaped barrette sporting the design of the U.S. flag is an ideal find!
