Here’s a fun and funky metal item straight from the farm. This large iron cow bell, circa 1940, comes with a 3-foot-long leather strap, originally to be hung from the neck of a favorite bovine. On the inside of the bell and suspended from a hook is a two-inch-long clanger, which, when shook, makes a loud echoing sound. On the top of the bell is another welded buckle-type opening through which the leather strap is hung.
The cow bell is in great vintage condition, though both it and its clanger show some signs of oxidation not uncommon for their age. The leather, belt-like strap has an iron buckle and six holes to tighten or loosen the belt around whatever (animal or not) it may be strapped. The leather is in good condition, again with some scratches and nicks accumulated throughout its years of usage. The belt buckle on the strap works well.
If you are looking for country décor for your patio, garden, three-season room or man cave, this 1940s iron cow bell makes for an ideal find.
