About the Artist:
Lladró is a Spanish company based in Tavernes Blanques, Valencia that produces porcelain figurines. The company was founded in 1953 by three brothers, Juan, José and Vicente Lladró, in the village of Almàssera near Valencia. Beginning with items such as vases and jugs, it was not until 1956 that the studio started producing the sculptures for which they are now most famous. Enthusiasm for the items produced by the Lladró brothers caused their small workshop to expand several times until eventually they moved to Tavernes Blanques in 1958. Today, the porcelain figures produced by Lladró are some of the most desired and collectible at an international scale.
This charming miniature porcelain figurine, hand-made by the Lladró company in 1984, depicts a white and gray cat with a white mouse seated upon the cat’s tail. The cat sports a pink ribbon around its neck. With forearms and paws raised, the surprised cat regards the mouse that has sat upon its tail with the mouse returning an upward stare. The portrayal is one of innocence, and so the figurine captures a delightful scene.
This miniature figurine is in excellent vintage condition, free of cracks, scratches, chips and crazing of the glaze. The Lladró hallmark appears in blue on the bottom of the cat, along with its date of manufacture.
This Lladró figurine makes for a wonderful gift for any special occasion. In addition, this beautifully detailed cat and mouse would add great value to your own porcelain collection. This piece is sure to become a treasured heirloom in your family.
