About the Artist:
Luis Royo (born 1954) is a Spanish artist born in Olalla, a village in the Aragonese province of Teruel. He is best known for his fantasy illustrations published in numerous art books, magazines such as Heavy Metal, and various other media including book and music CD covers, video games and Tarot cards.
Beginning his career as a furniture designer, he was attracted to the comics industry in the late 1970s by the work of artists like Enki Bilal and Moebius, and, in 1979, he turned to art as a full-time career. Within a few years, he was publishing art within and on the covers of such magazines as Comix Rambla Internacional, El Vibora, Heavy Metal, National Lampoon and Comic Art as well as providing cover illustrations for publishers including Tor Books, Berkley Books, Avon, Warner Books, and Bantam Books.
Published in the late 1990s by the Spanish company Naipes Heraclio Fournier, S.A., the I Ching Dead Moon set is a spectacular Tarot deck that showcases the achingly gorgeous artwork of Luis Royo. Taking a modern, gothic approach to the three-thousand-year-old oracle, the world famous Spanish illustrator dazzles us with his own unique spin on the ancient I Ching and captures its divination power like no other. Along with striking, Asian-influenced imagery, each of the sixty-four cards features an I Ching hexagram.
This deck comes in a sealed package never opened, so its condition is pristine. Collectors of Luis Royo and other fantasy art as well as divination decks will be delighted to add this gem to their collection.
