This gorgeous 1950s, handmade Sioux barrette depicts the image of a sunflower in full bloom against a black evening sky. This piece is exquisite in every way, from the vibrant yellow, pink and orange seed beads to the supple brain-tanned leather to which the beads are attached. This barrette, often worn during tribal ceremonies, reflects the skilled craftsmanship of the Sioux artisan who created it.
The barrette is in mint vintage condition, free of damage and only aged. The metal hair clip on the backside works well and has a nice patina for an artifact more than 60 years old.
This awesome barrette would be ideal for any woman’s outfit or for participation in a tribal ceremony. It could also be a wonderful gift for the special lady or young woman in your life. Finally, if you are a collector of Native American jewelry or artifacts, this vintage 1950s barrette would be a marvelous addition to your collection.
