Produced in 1964 by game manufacturers Selchow & Righter (makers of Parcheesi®), Bewitch: The Game of “Mind Reading” is a rapid-round family board game wherein players are tempted to outmaneuver one another by anticipating decisions and reactions to the pattern of past plays, hence using their “mystical powers.”
The contents of the game include:
- A playing board;
- A deck of playing cards; and,
- Four differently colored scoring markers.
This game is in overall good vintage condition. The box is solid, has wonderful, vivid cover designs, yet has a bit of discoloration due to age. The animal and spirit images on the card deck are in excellent condition, free to frayed edges, tears or creases. However, one card (a Lion 1 card) is missing from what should be an entire deck of 54 cards. The game board is also in solid condition, but is peppered with age spots throughout its colorful surface.
Because of its rarity and the oddity of its game theme, Bewitch: The Game of “Mind Reading” is definitely a board game that any collector of vintage toys and games would enjoy addition to her or his collection. It also makes for a fun evening of family entertainment.
