This gorgeous, small terracotta bowl has been hand-made and hand-painted by an Arnhem Land native artisan of Australia, circa 1970. Inside the bowl, designed in an abstract dot style, also known as pointillism, is the image of a jumping kangaroo.
This little bowl looks fantastic! The bowl has some light wear to it, but it is in overall great vintage condition. The initials of the artist, “DM,” appear to left of the kangaroo. An original paper label indicating that this bowl is of authentic Australian Aboriginal origin is adhered to its backside.
This delightful Aboriginal terracotta bowl would make a wonderful gift for anyone who appreciates the craftsmanship of native peoples from around the world. It would do well as an accent piece for a dining room or living room arrangement. And, for those who collect indigenous Australian artifacts, this stunning piece would add value to one’s collection.
