About the Artist:
Tom Cox is from eastern North Carolina. While at the School of Design at North Carolina State University, he studied color theory, painting, drawing, aesthetics, and modern art theory. His main influences include the French and American Impressionists.
Tom began to paint watercolors in 1982, when he received lessons in Maine and began painting coastal scenes on site. Now a full-time artist, he has developed an international patronage. Virtually everything he has painted in the last several years has been purchased. His compositions are based on the architecture and natural environments of the Eastern regions of Canada to Florida.
Though his works reflect many Impressionistic qualities, he considers his style to be that of “sentimental realism.”
Dogbotz Boneyard recommends the artwork of Tom Cox because, through his unique use of light and shadow as well as fields and textures of color, his seascape compositions shimmer with “memory” deeply felt in the heart and soul of the artist then conveyed to the viewer. The artist has depicted not merely an impression of a single moment but more profoundly the emotional connection inherent in the juxtaposition of objects and atmospheric effects treasured at that moment. And so, from our Dogbotz Boneyard Gallery of Art for your own personal collection, we present Tom Cox’s Nantucket Harbor circa 1900.
Note: As part of 2020 Springtime Treasure Hunt, the purchase of Nantucket Harbor circa 1900 comes with a free $100 Dogbotz Boneyard gift certificate, which can be redeemed during a future purchase at our online store. The expiration date of the gift certificate is one year after purchase of this item.
