About the Artist:

Josiah Wedgwood and Sons, commonly known as Wedgwood, is a fine china, porcelain, and luxury accessories company founded on May 1, 1759 by English potter and entrepreneur Josiah Wedgwood.

In 1987, Wedgwood merged with Waterford Crystal to create Waterford Wedgwood, an Ireland-based luxury brands group. The main as Josiah sets of Waterford Wedgwood were purchased by the New York City-based private equity firm KPS Capital Partners in 2009, and the group became known as WWRD Holdings Limited, an acronym for “Waterford Wedgwood Royal Doulton.” On July 2, 2015, Fiskars Corporation acquired WWRD.

Product Description:

Created to celebrate the various jungle animals that populate the Kruger National Park, one of the largest game reserves in Africa, covering an area of 19,485 square kilometers in the provinces of Limpopo and Mpumalanga in northeastern South Africa, a series of fine china plates were designed by Wedgwood Studios. As with this collectible china plate of a waterbuck, the animal is printed in black in its natural habitat on a cream-colored background. The outer circle around the central image of the waterbuck depicts the South African park with an assortment of well-known jungle creatures.

Designed originally in the 1960s then discontinued in 1972, this decorative plate of a waterbuck is quite collectible. The plate is in excellent vintage condition, free of scratches, cracks and crazing. On the backside of the plate appears two Wedgwood logos along with the title of the collection.

Kruger National Park Collection: Waterbuck would make for a delightful housewarming gift or one for a special occasion, such as a birthday, anniversary or holiday. For those who collect plates, this superb plate of a waterbuck at Kruger National Park will add value to any china collection.
