Product Description:
Kristi Cowles was born into a rather zany family of singers and raised in Wittenberg, Wisconsin. Her father directed music at the local high school as well as the church. It was no accident that she was blessed with a strong alto voice, as both her parents sang duets throughout their long married life together.
Though it took her a while longer than most to manifest her lifelong dream of becoming a professional singer, from 1970 on, she never looked back. Singing five to six nights a week for the next seventeen years provided support for her two daughters and the completion of her undergraduate work at Alverno College in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. At this juncture, she decided to end her singing career (or so she thought) and move to San Francisco for graduate work. Two years later, with an M.A in East/West Psychology, she returned to her home state and founded Pederson Victorian Bed & Breakfast and Singing Wolf Center. During the early years of this professional shift, Kristi, the musician, hibernated, but was awakened by her good friend and teaching partner, Patrick Price, now co-owner of Dogbotz Boneyard.
Hold the Moment is Kristi Cowles's fourth CD. Simply put, the songs on this CD are some of Kristi's favorites that she sang hundreds of times over her professional career - many of them are songs from musicals of her parents' era of the 1920s, 30s and 40s. She tells us that she would have loved to have been around at the time when Gershwin, Porter and Kern were alive.
Note: As part of 2019 Holiday Celebration, the purchase of the Hold the Moment comes with a free $15 Dogbotz Boneyard gift certificate, which can be redeemed during a future purchase at our online store. The expiration date of the gift certificate is one year after purchase of this item.
