About the Artist:
Edith John is a Navajo wood carver and folk artist who specializes in carving animals and birds, primarily chickens and roosters, which are the pieces most valued by her customers and collectors.
This delightful wooden sculpture of a blue rooster decorated with white starbursts stands on a 1" thick base. The narrow straight legs of the rooster and its talons are painted black, whereas its face is painted the traditional red. Straw serves as its tail feathers.
The rooster carving is in great vintage condition. Edith John’s signature appears on the bottom of the wooden disc upon which the roster is perched.
This tall, proudly standing rooster carving would make a wonderful addition to any collection of Native American artifacts as well as a great conversation piece for your living room, library or office.
