About the Artist:
Juliana jewelry has cast a mesmerizing spell over a multitude of people (both men and women) who are now avid collectors of this gorgeous, high-quality jewelry which holds its own when it comes to exquisite beauty and design. Juliana jewelry is known for its over-the-top extravagant use of Swarovski crystals combined with rare and stunning art glass stones.
DeLizza and Elster (D&E) span the period 1947 to the 1980s. The jewelry firm produced an incredible variety of jewelry, along with manufacturing and selling to a number of design houses such as Boucher, Weiss, Gloria, Celebrity, Hobe, Kramer, and Hattie Carnegie, just to name a few. Each of these houses in turn put their own tag or mark on these pieces, thus blurring the line as to whom a piece is actually attributed, and whether one is looking at a truly original D& E design.
From the period 1967-1968, this jewelry became a specific line that was produced under the name of Juliana, named for Frank DeLizza’s mother. Mr. DeLizza has made it clear that he prefers that only the pieces produced during this period be called Juliana and that all other all other pieces be identified as DeLizza & Elster.
This stunning peridot green and hot pink rhinestone circle brooch has been officially confirmed as a piece of Juliana costume jewelry produced by the jewelers DeLizza & Elster (D&E). The figure-8 puddling and solder marks on the backside of the brooch, the joint and catch pin back, the use of rhinestone florets and prong-set rhinestones, the unique rivets and eyelets and the dimensional-layered designs — all of these elements are typical of the original jewelry style used in the Juliana line.
The floral circle brooch is adorned with ravishing peridot green, olivine green, emerald green, hot pink, and fuchsia rhinestones. In addition, rhinestone florets populate the brooch, whose setting has a gold-tone finish. The brooch is in excellent vintage condition: all rhinestones are present, bright, and absolutely dazzling! The finish is beautiful with little to no wear, and the clasp and pin are in perfect working order.
This beautifully designed brooch is a rare find and would be an excellent companion piece for any jewelry box or collection set.
