About the Artist:
Shirley A. Lynn has been a longtime resident of Evanston, Illinois, where her shop Shirley Lynn Interiors has been providing furniture and other interior decorations since its establishment in 1969. When creating her art, Shirley works primarily in oils but also enjoys a variety of media, styles, and subject matter.
Shirley paints regularly at the open studio of North Shore Senior Center of Northfield, Illinois, where she can interact with other elder artists of Chicago’s North Shore communities. She loves to experiment with the “art assignments” that the studio’s director presents as challenges the participants’ creativity. Carnival in Venice is the result of one of those sessions, which, in this case, focused on depicting a theatrical scene.
Dogbotz Boneyard recommends the intriguing artwork of Shirley A. Lynn because of her thoughtful juxtaposition and blending of patterns, forms, and colors that present a tapestry-like feel to her paintings. Elements repeat, yet often in slightly opposing shades and tones, creating a subtle, playful and surprising sense of compositional unity. And so, from our Dogbotz Boneyard Gallery of Art for your own personal collection, we present Shirley A. Lynn’s Carnival in Venice.
