About the Artist:
Laurel Lake McGuire was born April 25, 1962 in Gloucester, Massachusetts, an area long frequented by artists. Interested early in art, Laurel studied watercolor with Martin Ahearn in the 1970s, and then she went on to work as a graphic designer for several years in the 1980s. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in illustration from Syracuse University in 1984.
Laurel’s work has been carried in the past by galleries in North Carolina, California and Idaho. She married a United States Marine officer in 1985, which has meant frequent moves to places such as Florida, California, New Orleans, Washington, Wisconsin, Hawaii, Louisiana for the second time and now Idaho. This, along with raising two sons, has had its challenges for her career; however, she has also benefited from ever-expanding sources of inspiration and the wonderful support of various art communities all across the nation.
This exhibit is Laurel Lake McGuire’s first exposure in our Dogbotz Boneyard Gallery of Art.
Dogbotz Boneyard has invested in the artwork of Laurel Lake McGuire both because of the intricate and realistic detail she adds to each piece and because of the wide range of subject matter she tackles (from birds along a shoreline to cowboys in a sleigh). Each watercolor is inspired by nature, people and the objects that populate her world, conveying her appreciation of the inherent wonder within. And so, from our Dogbotz Boneyard Gallery of Art for your own personal collection, we present Laurel Lake McGuire’s Winter Sleigh Ride.
