Manufactured in the 1980s by Family Games of Quebec, Canada, The Adventures of (or, for French-speaking players, Les Aventures de) Oliver & Toes follows the escapades of two dogs as they tour their neighborhood, revealing interesting and amusing information about their comrades along the way. This board games was one of several created by Family Games to enlighten Canadian children of all ages to the lives and predicaments of animals. Additionally, a royalty from each game purchased was remitted to the ASPCA or to local nonprofit animal or environmental groups. Finally, the game was made using recycled materials.
The Adventures of Oliver & Toes remains in good vintage condition. Though the exterior box top and bottom have some worn edges with one split side and frayed corners, the cover art is still colorful. The other components of the game — board, rules, eight pawns and 288 cards — are in great shape.
This game would make for a wonderful evening of family entertainment. Or, it would be a great gift for a Francophile or a teacher of French.
