About the Artist:
“I am an artist inspired by nature and physics,” Missouri artist Omar Castaneda claims. His style borders on Expressionism, though he has been known to create some modern Impressionistic pieces. He stretches and prepares his own canvases for his oil paintings, but he also constructs and stains the wooden frames made of repurposed wood in which his art pieces “float.”
Omar received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Studio Art in 2006. Since his graduation, Omar’s artwork has been internationally collected.
Dogbotz Boneyard has collected the artwork of Omar Castaneda because of the intermingling of assorted color fields that he uses to create an almost jigsaw puzzle-like effect for each painting. These are not oil paintings that can be examined close up to readily determine the subject matter, but as the viewer proceeds to step away from the artwork, the fields of color no longer confuse one’s eyes but unite to present a subtly cohesive image of creatures found in nature. Does one have the patience to stop, seek and then observe the natural wonders sometimes not so easily perceived? Therein lies the genius of the artist’s style — finding the hidden beauty of the natural world within the jungle of colors and shapes that inform it. And so, from our Dogbotz Boneyard Gallery of Art for your own personal collection, we present Omar Castaneda’s Elephant Family.
