Based on the TV show from the 1960s of the same name and manufactured by Milton Bradley, this vintage and rare copy of the Video Village board game is the quintessential shopping game. The game is quite simple, and anyone can play — women, men and even children. It is played by two contestants who, ruled by luck (the roll of the die in a bird cage and the fortunes of the board), try to walk their way through the streets of Video Village as quickly as they can, winning as many prizes and cash as possible. The first through all the streets plays the next opponent.
The board game is in good vintage condition. The box top and bottom are pristine, with no split corners or frayed edges. Just a few marks mar the box top. Most of the game cards remain unmarred, except some of the Outdoor Shop cards are a bit creased. The bird cage that holds the die has been repaired. Overall, for a 53-year-old board game, Video Village has pretty much escaped the ravages of time.
For those folks who enjoy the thrills of shopping or for an evening of family fun, Video Village make for an excellent addition to any vintage family game collection.
Also included with the board game is a promotional booklet of Milton Bradley games produced in the 1960s. The booklet would be a delightful extra for anyone who collects vintage advertising or marketing collateral.
