For fans of old Western films or television programs, here’s a dream item — an aluminum mini-lunchbox filled with collectible trading cards of cowboy actor Gene Autry! He was an American performer who gained fame as a singing cowboy on the radio, in movies, and on television for more than three decades beginning in the early 1930s. Autry’s signature song was “Back in the Saddle Again!” From 1934 to 1953, Autry appeared in 93 films and 91 episodes of The Gene Autry Show television series. During the 1930s and 1940s, he personified the straight-shooting hero — honest, brave, and true — and profoundly touched the lives of millions of Americans. Autry was also one of the most important figures in the history of country music. His singing cowboy movies were the first vehicle to carry country music to a national audience. In addition to his signature song, Autry is still remembered for his Christmas holiday songs: “Here Comes Santa Claus,” which he wrote; “Frosty the Snowman”; and his biggest hit, “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.”

The lunchbox is in great vintage condition, with minor wear at some edges. The clasp of the lunchbox does not line up exactly, but it does close. The red plastic handle is solid and in good condition. The interior cream-colored card holder is cracked in each corner, but the cards themselves are in excellent shape, free of creases, tears, frayed edges or discoloration. The deck contains 99 Gene Autry Comics collectible trading cards that have images of or interesting facts about Autry printed on each side of a card.

Again, for those who are fans of the singing cowboy Gene Autry or who collect paraphernalia of Westerns (radio, film, or television), this mini-lunch is a must-have!
