Description

Handmade by a Sioux artisan friend of Dogbotz Boneyard co-owner Patrick Price in the mid-1980s, this gourd rattle has been lightly dyed and sports two yellow stars and two red bird-like creatures. At the top of the rattle are two small feathers that have been adhered to the gourd, one of which is painted in yellow and the other in blue. A roughly whittled 4.5-inch wood handle is attached to the gourd. Small stones provide the rattle’s “voice.” The rattle is in overall great vintage condition.

This unique and primitive ceremonial object would make for a wonderful addition to any collection of Native American artifacts as well as a great conversation piece. As it has been blessed, it may also be used in traditional Native American ceremonies.
