This stunning hard-carved soapstone sculpture of a kneeling hunter with his spear thrust forward was created in the early 1990s by Canadian Intuit artisan Alan Wolf. The intricately carved details of the hunter’s clothing and posture are executed with great craftsmanship. The spear is made of brass-colored metal, but is not itself brass.
This original piece is in excellent vintage condition, free of chips, cracks and scuff marks. The English and then French words “Hand Made in Canada, Al Wolf, Fait à la Main” appear on the bottom of the sculpture’s base.
This traditional hand-carved soapstone sculpture would make for a great addition to any home décor or as a housewarming gift. For those who collect Native American or Alaskan Native artifacts, this Alan Wolf sculpture would add significant value to such a collection.
