Depression-Era Glass Tobacco Jar with Bronze-Finish Lid

Acquired at a Rosemont, Illinois, estate sale, this early 1930s Depression-era glass tobacco jar has a bronze-finish lid. The glass jar is quite solid and beautifully cut and grooved along its sides. The bottom of the jar has a wonderfully cut sunflower design along with eight triangle-shaped “feet.” The jar’s bronze-plated lid has a gorgeous flower design of nicotiana rusticus, a common variety of tobacco. The lid is easily removed from and placed back on the jar’s neck. A nice patina covers the jar lid, indicative of the product’s age.

This tobacco jar is in excellent vintage condition, as if it may have been rarely used. The glass is smooth to the touch. The lid is free of marks.

This glass tobacco with bronze-finish lid would make a great conversation piece for one’s office, library, den or man cave. For collectors of Depression-era products, this item is a rare find!
