(+$17.75 shipping & handling)Acquired at an antique fair market in Rosemont, Illinois, this vintage all-black, cast-iron hound nutcracker dates back to the 1940s. This piece has nice details of the dog, and the solid metal figure stands on a rectangular platform that gives the nutcracker great stability. The nutcracker still sports its original black paint.
This unmarked iron nutcracker is in excellent vintage condition, with a few rust spots indicative of its age, but it is overall very clean. The tail lever moves up and down smoothly as the dog’s mouth, used to crack nuts, works equally as well.
This kitchen implement would make a great gift for a dad or a brother who has everything yet loves nuts. This delightful yet very sturdy metal piece will add detail and charm to any farmhouse country kitchen or library decore, and it is a “must-have” for that person who collects vintage nutcrackers.
